Difficulty level:

This is more than a simple flight: It is a morning tour. We meet early in  at 5am at the entrance of Hotel Avila, where you can safely leave your car. We board our 4WD transport, that will take us up to 1.800 meters above sea level to Boca de Tigre in Galipán. From there, we start a 30 minute walk to watch the sunrise and the caribbean from Picacho (little peak). While the pilots prepare the gliders for take off, you can enjoy the view, and take some pics.

We launch, and we start overflying Galipán, a farmer area with simple an beautiful houses. We will spot the reminders of the great

Vargas mud slides, and how they transformed the geology of the area. We will also spot the peaks of Lagunazo, Oriental and Naiguatá, and spectacular cloud forests. Then we open up to the coast, overfly the ocean, and then land in Camurí Chico, enjoying the colors of the water and the boats that appear to be floating above the water.

We will have the chance to take a bath, while our driver arrives, and then we drive back to Caracas over Galipán, stopping for some fabulous pork sandwiches, some strawberries with cream, and hot chocolate. We normally arrive in Caracas between 10 and 11am.

Why fly so early?

The Flight from Picacho requires special conditions: The take off lies at almost 1.900 meters above sea level. At this height, the mountain is exposed to winds, that arrive directly from the caribbean without interruptions, and generally speaking, the later along the day, the stronger the winds get. So strong, that is turns unsafe to take off. Safety comes first for us. We do not improvise, and we take off, when conditions are suitable for a safe flight.

For this, we are in touch with our driver at 4:15am, who lives in Galipán, and he informs us about the conditions at the moment: Wind intensity, clouds, rain. With his information, we take the decision whether to fly or not on that day.

The same rule applies when we arrive at the take off. If it is not safe, the flight will be suspended, based upon the pilots´ decision.

Who can fly?

Any person who can walk without any problems, and is healthy, without any heart complications. We have flown from 4 year old kids (with their parent´s authorization), to 75 year old persons. You simply need motivation and be able to walk steep paths for approximately 45min to reach the take off. The maximum weight limit to do this activity safely is 95kg.

When do we fly? When can I make my reservation?

We offer flights during weekdays and weekends. If you want to fly in a particular date, please consult with us, if we have availability. If we don ́t have, we can suggest you possible dates. We recommend to make your reservation at least 1 week prior to your flight day. We only fly with reservations.

Who will I fly with?

You will fly with highly experienced pilots, that have bean flying for at least 10 years already. All have been licensed by the Venezuelan Paragliding Federation (FEDEVIP) and in some cases other international licenses.

Why do we have weight restrictions with passengers?

The paraglider depends on natural thermic and dynamic updrafts encountered on the whole day. With average flying conditions, it gets difficult to keep the flying time we guarantee with a passenger weighing above 95Kg. At the end, it will depend of the pilot`s judgement, whether to go to fly with a passenger of such weight or not.

A Paragliding flight depends on good climate, in order to fly well. If you are not able to fly on your schenduled date, due to bad weather, you can re-schedule your flight for another date, by contacting us.
