Autana - Salto Angel Venezuela

Angel Falls are the highest waterfalls of our planet falling almost 1.000m from the top of Auyantepuy. This adventure gives you the chance to get to know the falls from a different perspective, allowing you to get more in touch with nature, pemón indian culture and from the air. We´ll overfly the falls and the Auyantepuy with our airplane enjoying the fantastic ancient scenery of the Lost World and continue south to the spectacular camp of Kavac, located within the Kamarata valley. From there we´ll take a car that will leave us in the community of Kamarata right next to the Akanan river where we´ll board our dugout canoes that will take us along the eastern side of the tepuy along savannas and jungles till we arrive to Devil´s Canyon, leading us to our main goal: the base of Angel Falls.

Then we'll be able to enjoy views of the Canaima Lagoon and Carrao river till we reach the huge flat top mesa of Auyantepuy and its incredible rock formations as well as the impressive Angel Falls. We land on a small dirt strip next to Kavac. It´s a lovely camp with typical indigenous ¨churuata¨ huts, and right next to it, there´s a nice river perfect for a refreshing bath. We prepare for our short hike along the river into the magic gorge of Kavac, once a sacred place for Pemón Shamans, where we can take a bath inside of the pool and under the waterfall.
