What time do we fly?
The flight in Placivel can start in a good day around 10am. We generally set meeting time at 12 - 1pm, depending on group size. At this time of the day, conditions are best, to perfom an optimum flight.
Who can fly?
Any person who can walk without any problems, and is healthy, without any heart complications. We have flown from 4 year old kids (with their parent´s authorization), to 75 year old persons. You simply need motivation, want to fly.
Why is there a weight restriction for the passenger?
A paragliding flight depends on updrafts, such as thermals that exist at the moment of the flight. With average conditions, it is generally difficult for the pilot to keep the 15 minute flight we guarantee, with a 95 Kg passenger. It is not impossible for someone in this weight range to be flown, we simply do not guarantee the minimum flying time, and the decision is up to the pilot.
How do I get to Placivel?
Getting to Placivel is easy. If you come from Caracas, Valencia or Maracay, it´s always better to take the Regional del Centro Highway, and exit the toll at la Victoria. You ask for the way to Colonia Tovar. While crossing la Victoria, you may have to ask once or twice again, till you leave town, and enter a valley.
From this point on, it is easy: You continue along the road, and you will get to Pie de Cerro, a little village crossing a river, that lies exactly at the foot of the mountain. You start driving up, and after 10-15 minutes, it´s possible to spot already some paragliders in the air. You will see a sign that says Paragliding Zone (Zona de Parapentes), and you will park your car next to the house with red roof, and ask for us.
Can I bring along my camera?
Yes, you can bring photo and video cameras. Make sure you tell the pilot you are bringing one, and you will be advised on how to take advantage of it.
