El Jarillo lies close to Macarao National Park. The village itself is very similar to Colonia Tovar in arquitecture and culture. It also was founded by german settlers in the early 20th century. This landscape attracts tourists that come every weekend from cities around the area.

The take off is huge and most of it is covered by grass. The wind blows in a laminar way mostly from South South East, which allows easy ridgesoaring.

From the air it´s possible to see the water dam in Macarao, Colonia Tovar and Caracas, if you are above 2.000 masl. With good conditions, it´s easy to make a short 15 Km Cross Country flight to Placivel, but take care if you leave your car, to have somebody to pick you up.

The whole takeoff area is really easy for toplanding, or if you have sunk too much, there is a landing field in the village pretty close to the church.

To get to el Jarillo you can either take the road Los Teques - San Pedro - El Jarillo, or take the road El Junquito - Colonia Tovar, and turn left when you read the sign.
