Placivel is placed in Aragua state, on the road that goes from La Victoria towards la Colonia Tovar. The road goes along a very beautiful valley, and once you get with the car to the foot of the mountain, you continue for approximately 15 minutes till you see a house with a red roof on the right side. Generally the local pilots can be found there offering tandem flights.
This flying spot has different takeoffs, depending on how the pilot feels like walking, or wind direction. Generally the wind either comes from the South, from the valley, or the East. That's a reason to be careful for wind changes during flight.
The flight here is normally thermical and dynamic, and although it's a pretty easy place to fly, it can be pretty turbulent at noon, especially during dry season. Towards late afternoon, conditions tend to get well for all pilot levels.
Placivel is located in the center of a valley, which has a North-South orientation. From here, it is possible to make flights to Colonia Tovar ( A nice little village founded by German settlers in the 19th century, which has kept the old architecture and customs), Maracay, la Victoria, el Jarillo, or a flight down to the beach.
In days with good visibility and high cloud bases it is possible to see los Morros de San Juan (Two impressive rock monoliths), the lagoons of Zuata, Taiguaiguai and Valencia, Caracas and the Caribbean sea.
It is mostly possible to land everywhere. To fly down to the base of the mountain, I advise to make it at the end of the day, because it can be either very windy (take care of rotors) or pretty turbulent.
At Pie de Cerro it's possible to find lodging at the classical Pilots' spot, attended by Mary and Orlando.
