Autana - Salto Angel Venezuela

Uribante Caparo is a spectacular flying spot located on a Water Dam Complex in Táchira State, at the southern Andean Mountain Range of Venezuela.

This spot is perfect to perform SIV Courses above water and to train aerobatics safely. The take off lies on a huge wall, the wind tends to blow strong, so when the pilot is done doing aerobatics, it's easy to gain altitude quickly again.

The wall also allows thermals to explode and you can make flights to along the mountains that surround the dam. Above the mountain it's possible to make toplanding and enjoy the view.

It is possible to land either on the other side of the shore at the Cadafe Complex, or along the beach in front of the take off.

To the take off you have a walk of 30 min more or less, a good reason to bring along water. If you do not want to carry your glider, and manage good ground handling, you can open it and kite all the way up tell the soaring starts lifting, and then you can continue your path flying and then toplanding.

Accomodations can be found on La Trampa complex, which belongs to the Electric Company of the Venezuelan government. Nice cabins can be rented for pretty good prices.

To get to the take off you either get by taking a boat or take the road that goes to Pregonero, and after aproximately 20 min you bend to the right. The road ends pretty close to the path that takes to the take off.
